Korean radish wrap [Mussamali]

I’m back from 2weeks outback trip from Alice spring to Darwin in Australia. It was a unique experience to travel all around the bush and tropical area which has totally different atmosphere compared to Goldcoast where I live. While traveling, I usually ate quite greasy food such as pizza, pasta, and chips because we had to move on time for next destination so it was easier to get fast food. I pretty enjoyed it though. But I felt always so heavy after eating.

So I made fresh, fresh, Super fresh Korean meal for my poor stomach :-P It’s pickled radish wrap called Mussamali. Many Korean make this dish on special day like party and housewarming. I guess because it looks kind of fancy and need effort and time to prepare :-) Radish is very sour so it doesn’t need much sauce to eat with. Most of the ingredients are vegetables, so good for people who are on a diet or vegetarian.

Ingredients (20 pieces)

  • 1 pack of sliced pickled Radish wrap (You can buy it in a Korean grocery store)
  • 1 piece of Chicken breast (350g)
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Red capsicum,seeds removed (150g)
  • 1/2 Green capsicum,seeds removed (50g)
  • 1/2 pack of snow pea sprouts (50g)
  • Salt
  •  1 Spring onion and some raw black peppers (for removing bad smell when boiling chicken breast)

Steps

1. Prepare the radish wraps.

2. Boil chicken breast with spring onion and raw black peppers until cooked through.

3. While it’s boiling, prepare the other ingredients. Cut the red and green capsicum into 0.5*6cm strips.

4. Crack the 3 eggs into a bowl and mix well with some salt for flavor.

5. Fry the egg mixture on low heat until gold brown on both sides. (my fried egg was broken when I flipped it. No worries! I just ate it! yum yum:-P)

6. Cut the fried egg into thin strips like capsicum.

7. When the chicken breast has finished boiling, cut the chicken into thin strip.

8. Put one slice of radish wrap. Place snow pea sprouts first on the bottom then the other ingredients on it.

9. Fold it inwards.(It’s easier to wrap it if you place all ingredients little bit more one side)

10. Serve with mustard sauce. Enjoy!

 Tips

  • Do you want to make it look better for party or guests? It becomes fancy food with just a chives string:-D Blanch some chives or small spring onion(It’s become stronger after blanch, so you can tie the wrap easily)

If you can’t find this radish product, you can make it by yourself.

1. Get one medium sized white radish.

2. Slice the radish thinly.(If radish is little bitter, soak it into a cold water for 30minutes.)

3. Make the water mixture with 2cups hot water+ 5Tbs Vinegar+3Tbs Sugar+1Tbs Salt.

4. Place the sliced radish into a jar, and enough water mixture to cover.

5. Keep the jar in the fridge. After a week, it’s ready to go!
