Spicy Garlic Chives [Maneol Jong]

This is a spicy version of the Garlic chives recipe which is spicy and a little bit sour. You can add more sugar or chilli power  depending on your preference.

Ingredients (serves 2-3)

  • Garlic Chives 200g
  • 1 Tbs soy sauce
  • 1 ½ Tbs Chilli paste
  • 1 Tbs Chilli powder
  • 1 Tbs rice syrup (honey)
  • 2 Tsp vinegar
  • 1 Tbs sugar
  • 1 Tsp sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds



1. Chop the garlic chives into 4 cm lengths.

2. Blanch them in the boiling water with 1 Ts of salt for 2minutes.

3. After 2minutes, run cold water through them and drain well.

4. Make the sauce. Mix all sauce ingredients into a bowl.

5. Put chopped garlic chives with the sauce in a bowl.

6. Mix all together.

7. Finally, add 1 Tsp of sesame oil and a little bit of sesame seeds.

8. Mix it up. Enjoy your spicy garlic chives!


  • Don’t boil the garlic chives too long, otherwise it may go limp (step 2).
  • Drain the boiled garlic chives thoroughly, otherwise will not seasoned well with the sauce. (You can use a paper towel to remove the water quickly)
